GigU and DriveLens are the two apps in this category built around the same core idea: grade the offer before you accept it, in color, on your screen. That surface similarity is where the resemblance ends. What you get without paying, whether the app knows what a ride actually cost you, and what happens to your data once it's captured are genuinely different products.

Where DriveLens pulls ahead
- A hard payout floor, in dollars, built into scoring. GigU has no equivalent.
- Mileage tracking and IRS-ready CSV export, on the free tier. GigU offers neither.
- A personal pickup heatmap and dropoff zone intelligence, built from your own ride history. GigU does not offer either.
- A $0 free tier with no expiration. GigU is subscription-only after its trial.
- Your driving history stays on your device by default. GigU's does not.
GigU's real strengths, and there are some, are below.
The platform question, plainly
Neither app is on iPhone yet. DriveLens lists iOS as coming soon; so does GigU. Where they differ today is Android: GigU's Android app is generally available right now, while DriveLens is Android-only and currently onboarding testers, not yet listed in Play Store search. If you want something installed and running tonight, that's a real point in GigU's favor regardless of anything else here.

What GigU does well
The Cherry Picker overlay does the core job cleanly: green, yellow, red, live on your screen, with earnings per mile, per hour, and per minute.
The Net Profit Calculator estimates profit per offer after fuel, maintenance, insurance, and platform fees, the same underlying philosophy DriveLens applies: gross payout is a misleading number on its own.
No Uber or Lyft login required, and eight platforms covered (Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, Uber Eats, Instacart, Spark, Grubhub, Empower) against DriveLens's two. If you mix rideshare with delivery, that platform list may decide this on its own. Voice notifications, automatic passenger messaging, and a security camera feature round out GigU's advantage in raw feature count, and its Android app is live today while DriveLens is still onboarding testers.
Why the payout floor and mileage tracking matter
Percentage-based rates flatter small rides. A $3.50 fare over 0.8 miles can post a great per-mile number and still not be worth turning the wheel for. DriveLens enforces a minimum payout in dollars alongside the rate check, so a ride has to clear both before it grades green. GigU doesn't have an equivalent floor in its public materials.
And if part of why you want a driver app is a clean mileage log at tax time, DriveLens's free tier covers it (GPS mileage tracking plus IRS-ready CSV export) at no cost. GigU doesn't offer mileage tracking or export at any tier. Tax deductions for rideshare drivers covers what a good log needs.
The heatmap and dropoff intelligence
Neither GigU, Mystro, nor Maxymo offer a personal driving heatmap. DriveLens builds one from your own ride history: geohash cells colored by $/hr, $/mi, payout, acceptance rate, or drive time, showing where your good rides actually start. Dropoff zone intelligence goes further, tracking average idle time and dead miles after dropoff per zone, so you can see which drop-offs strand you before it happens again. The bottom line
If you want a built-in payout floor, free mileage and tax tracking, a heatmap and dropoff intelligence built from your own history, and data that stays on your device, DriveLens is the stronger product for the core job of deciding whether a ride is worth it. If you want something live on Android today, need broader platform coverage than Uber and Lyft, or want voice notifications and passenger messaging, GigU covers ground DriveLens doesn't.
