DriveLens

Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 10, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how DriveLens ("DriveLens," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the DriveLens mobile application (the "App") and this website (the "Site").

DriveLens is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with Uber, Lyft, or any other rideshare platform. References to these platforms describe compatibility only.

The short version

  • The most sensitive data DriveLens touches (screenshots, raw OCR text, GPS traces, and heatmap caches) never leaves your device, regardless of whether you have an account or a subscription.
  • If you create an account, a broader set of driving data (shift history, and for Pro subscribers, full ride history and expenses) syncs to our database so it's available if you sign in on another device. This sync is opt-in and tied to account creation.
  • We use anonymous crash reporting to help us fix bugs. Crash reports never contain your ride data or personal information.
  • We never sell your data.

Information that never leaves your device

Regardless of whether you're signed in or subscribed to DriveLens Pro, the following is processed and stored locally only, and is never transmitted to DriveLens servers:

  • Raw OCR text recognized from screen captures
  • Screenshots or captured images of your screen
  • Raw on-screen text read via Android's Accessibility Service
  • GPS trace logs recorded during shifts
  • Heatmap-derived data used to build your personal pickup/dropoff zone analytics

If you uninstall the App or clear its storage, this data is deleted and cannot be recovered by us, because we never had a copy of it.

Information synced to our servers (requires an account)

Creating a DriveLens account is optional. If you sign in, the following categories of data may sync to our database (hosted on Supabase) so they're available across devices:

  • Your account email address, as provided by Google Sign-In
  • Driver profile and vehicle profile, always synced once you're signed in
  • Selected app preferences, such as dark mode, overlay mode, and geohash (location) precision
  • Shift history: dates, duration, earnings totals, mileage totals, and any expense records you've logged. Available to every signed-in user (Free or Pro) once you turn on the backup toggle in the App
  • Full ride history: offer details, grades, outcomes, payouts, and pickup/dropoff coordinates. This currently syncs for DriveLens Pro subscribers only, on top of being signed in and having backup turned on. A Free user's ride data queues on-device and backfills to the cloud automatically if they upgrade; it isn't discarded in the meantime

This data is used solely to operate your account and is not shared with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

Crash reporting

DriveLens uses Firebase Crashlytics to send anonymous crash reports when the App encounters an error. These reports do not contain personally identifiable information, ride data, or earnings data.

Email delivery

DriveLens uses Resend to deliver messages submitted through this Site's contact form to our support inbox. Resend receives only the email address and message content you provide when you use that form.

Website analytics

We use Vercel Analytics for anonymous website analytics on this Site. No personal data or cookies are used.

Subscriptions and payments

DriveLens Pro is not yet available for purchase; every account currently operates on the Free tier. Once subscriptions launch, purchase processing will be handled by RevenueCat and the Google Play billing system. RevenueCat manages your anonymous subscription state using your DriveLens (Supabase) account ID and does not receive your ride or earnings data. DriveLens does not receive or store your payment card details.

Screen capture, Accessibility Service, and OCR

For live offer scoring (a DriveLens Pro feature; the Free tier is never asked for either permission), DriveLens uses Android's screen capture ("screen sharing") permission together with Android's Accessibility Service permission to read publicly visible ride offer details off your own screen while you have an active shift running. Accessibility Service lets DriveLens read on-screen text such as fare, distance, and time; it cannot see passwords, and DriveLens does not use it to interact with, control, or modify any other app. Screen captures are processed with on-device optical character recognition (OCR). Neither the raw Accessibility Service text, nor screenshots, nor OCR output is ever uploaded to DriveLens servers, as described above.

Data retention and deletion

Locally stored data is retained on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App. Synced account data is retained while your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated synced data at any time by contacting us at privacy@drivelens.app.

Children's privacy

DriveLens is intended for licensed drivers and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as DriveLens evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date at the top of this page. This page is a placeholder pending a full policy generated through Termly.
