What permissions does DriveLens need, and why?
During setup, you choose between the Free tier or starting a 14-day free trial of Pro. Choosing Free still asks for location access, for mileage tracking, but skips the screen capture and Accessibility Service permissions, so you can get straight into mileage, income, and expense tracking. Choosing the trial additionally asks for Android's screen capture ("screen sharing") permission together with Android's Accessibility Service permission, which read publicly visible ride offer details off your own screen using on-device OCR for live offer scoring. Accessibility Service only lets DriveLens read on-screen text like fare, distance, and time; it can't see passwords and can't interact with or control other apps. All of this is processed and stored locally on your device.
Which platforms are supported?
DriveLens currently supports Uber and Lyft. Uber Eats and Uber Connect/Package support is still in development. iOS is also in development.
What data is stored, and where?
Most of what DriveLens does (offer scoring, OCR, GPS traces, your heatmap) happens entirely on your device and never leaves it. If you create an account, a broader set of driving data can sync to our servers so it's available across devices. See the Privacy Policy for the full breakdown of what syncs and what doesn't.
What's the difference between Free and Pro?
Free covers everything you need to log and understand your driving: shift tracking, GPS mileage, shift history, basic analytics (totals, average $/mi, average $/hr), expense tracking, and mileage CSV export for tax season.
Pro adds:
- Live offer scoring: the on-screen overlay while you drive
- Custom scoring rules and rule presets ($/hr, $/mi, and payout thresholds)
- Unlimited offer history, across all platforms
- Advanced analytics: extended date ranges, platform breakdown, and estimate-vs-actual earnings accuracy
- Personal pickup heatmap and dropoff zone intelligence
- Ride history cloud backup and restore
Pro is $7.99/month or $59.99/year, with a 14-day free trial. It's live now for Android testers; it isn't open to the general public until DriveLens leaves testing.
